David Saddington is a postgraduate student on the Risk Masters course taught by the Department of Geography and the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience at Durham University. This TEDxTeen talk given by David tells the story of his experience with communicating climate change to the public and how buzz words about climate change, such as ‘anthropogenic warming’ or ‘hockey stick graph’, are blurring our understanding of how climate affects people’s lives. ‘Why? Because these words represent a failure to communicate the importance of climate change. By making climate change a scientific and academic concept we’ve made it an abstract remote phenomenon far removed from everyday life’, said David.
David will be giving a talk tonight at Collingwood College.
