IHRR’s Tipping Points project was featured on Radio 4′s thought-provoking radio programme ‘Thinking Allowed’. The programme features researchers from the project Prof Alex Bentley, Prof Patricia Waugh and Prof Tim Clark.

The first annual report from IHRR’s Tipping Points project is now available. It gives an overview of the project’s progress so far along with its aims and goals for the future.
In its first year the project has shown that there is clearly much more to tipping point than simply being a popular ‘buzz word’ and that it may actually describe something quite profound about the physical and social world we live in.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) recently banned and fined Northern Rock’s former finance director, David Jones, £320,000 for the misreporting of mortgage arrears that started mid-January 2007. The role of Northern Rock was certainly central in the recent financial crisis, but to what degree is not fully understood. If there was no Northern Rock would a financial crisis have occurred at all? And how did the misreporting of mortgage arrears lead to its collapse? Read more
